Indian Civil Law

What is Indian Civil Law?

In India, Civil laws refer to a set of laws that govern private rights and remedies. These laws primarily deal with disputes between individuals and organizations, such as contracts, property, and torts. They are codified in the Indian Civil Code and are primarily based on the principles of common law and equity.

Civil cases in India are heard by civil courts, such as the District Court, High Court, and Supreme Court. The procedures and rules for civil cases are governed by the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908. The ultimate aim of civil law in India is to provide justice to the individuals and to settle the disputes through a fair and impartial trial.
